Post, Wolfe Lead Eagles to Victory
The Lady Eagles volleyball team pushed their win streak to four Tuesday night with a 3-1 win over visiting Emmaus Bible College. The win puts Faith at 9-7 overall and 3-1 in the MCCC.
Faith jumped out to a quick 7-1 lead in set one, forcing Emmaus to call a time out. Emmaus responded out of the timeout with a 5-2 run of their own to pull back within two points, but Shannon Steffen got the Eagles going again, serving four straight to push the Eagle lead to seven. Faith eventually gained control of the set, leading 17-7. Emmaus found some momentum down the stretch, outscoring Faith 10-8 over the final eight points, but Faith earned the 25-17 first set victory.
Set two found Emmaus continuing their run, jumping out to leads of 5-3 and 7-5. A hard kill by Emily Wolfe pulled Faith backin within one at 6-7, but Emmaus quickly responded to push the lead back to three at 9-6. Again Faith rallied, tying the score at nine apiece and eventually taking the lead and pushing it to 14-11. However, Emmaus would rally back, retaking the lead and then outscoring Faith 14-8 over the final points of the match to even the contest at one game apiece.
Game three was a mirror of the first match, with Faith jumping out to a quick 7-1 lead. Emmaus would fight back, pulling to within two at 13-11, but that was as close as they would get as Faith took the lead and ran with it, winning the game 25-19 for a 2-1 match lead.
The Eagles didn't let up in game four, again jumping out to a quick lead, this time 7-0. Faith would not look back, never allowing Emmaus closer than four points as they earned the set and match win with a 25-19 victory.
Kimberly Post led the Eagles with 14 kills, while Wolfe added 10. Alyssa Larson recorded two blocks, and Emilie Morton ended the night with 34 assists. Post recorded 29 digs while Wolfe added 25 and JoJo Hodak finished with 20.
Faith hits the road this weekend, traveling to Springfield, MO for a triangular with Baptist Bible College and Ozark Christian College. Faith will face BBC at 2:30pm, followed by Ozark.
