Women's Volleyball Sweeps NCU, Advances to Regional Championship
The Lady Eagles volleyball team swept into the NCCAA II Regional Championship tonight with a 3-0 win over #3 seeded North Central University. The championship game will feature the #2 seeded Eagles hosting the #1 seeded Providence University Pilots in a 3:00 PM tip off on Wednesday. Faith and Providence split during the regular season.
The first game of the match went back and forth, with the game tied at 10 apiece early. JoJo Hodak changed that, though, as she stepped to the line and served seven unanswered points. The Eagles never looked back after that, winning 25-12 and riding momentum into game two. The Eagles wasted no time jumping into the lead in set two, as they opened up with a 7-0 lead. The Eagles continued to roll, winning game two with an identical 25-12 margin. Game three looked destined for a repeat of the first two, as Faith quickly took a 5-1 lead. However, NCU remained poised, pulling within one at 9-8. Faith responded with a run to 13, eventually leading 18-14 and forcing NCU to take their final timeout. North Central responded out of that timeout, pulling within one at 22-21, but Faith was able to stop the run, winning three of the next four points to win the game 25-21 and the match 3-0.
All four region teams will meet for the annual regional tournament luncheon tomorrow at 11:00 AM where the season All Region Team will be announced. The championship is set to begin at 3:00 PM.
