Women Defeat Emmaus
October 17, 2014
The Faith volleyball team completed a trifecta this past Tuesday when they defeated Emmaus Bible College for the third time this season by the score of 3-0. Faith is now 14-7 on the year, and is currently ranked #10 in NCCAA II.
Faith started set one hitting a match high of 29.6% and winning 25-9. "Our focus was good in the first set. We hit well, found defensive positions and executed our serve receive. We struggled some in the second set," noted coach Nihart.
Emmaus took advantage of Faith turnovers and increased their hitting % in the second set while grabbing early leads 7-2 and 14-11. The Eagles were able to pull even at 19-19 and outscore Emmaus 6-0 for a 25-19 win. Faith established more solid play in set three winning 25-13. Junior Kim Post led Faith with 7 kills, 33% attack and 12 digs while contributed 6 kills and 1 block. Emily Morton led Faith defensively with 17 digs.
"We limited some individual playing time due to injuries and still captured a road win. We have home matches this coming weekend and then MCCC conference tournament play which potentially will give us strong competition before NCCAA regional play," stated Nihart. Faith concludes their regular season on Friday and Saturday with a pair of triangulars. On Friday the Eagles will host Oak Hills Christian and Calvary Bible College. Faith will play Oak Hills at 4:30 PM and Calvary at 8:30 PM. On Saturdy Faith will play Oak Hills and Central Christian College of the Bible. Faith will play Oak Hills at 11 AM and CCCB at 3 PM.
