Despite being down two starters, the Lady Eagle's volleyball team managed a winning road trip, falling to Ozark Christian College, but rebounding for wins against Baptist Bible College, MO, and Calvary Bible College. The weekend puts the Eagles at 11-7 on the year and 2-2 in the conference.
Faith opened the weekend on Friday at a triangular hosted by Ozark Christian College. The Lady Ambassadors are currently ranked #5 in the NCCAA II, and quickly showed why, earning a 25-9 opening set win. The Lady Eagles responded strongly in set two, just barely unable to come up with the win as they fell 23-25. Despite being down 2-0, the Eagles continued to battle, but the combined firepower of Ozark and the missing players for the Eagles was two big of a hill to overcome, as Faith fell 17-25 in the third set for a 0-3 loss.
Faith turned right around after the loss, as they faced off against BBC, MO. All three games in the match were close, with the Eagles able to come out on top in the first three games. Faith won set one 25-19, set two 25-22, and set three 25-18. The sweep evened their weekend at 1-1, putting them in a position for a winning road trip with a win at Calvary the next day.
On Saturday, the Eagles faced an inspired Calvary Bible College team. Game one went the Warriors way early, but Faith showed resiliency, coming back to win the game 25-22. In game two, the Eagles seemed to get their feet under them, winning the game 25-19. The momentum from that win continued in the third match, as Faith rolled, winning 25-9 for their second three game sweep of the weekend.
Faith will return home for action on Tuesday, October 7, when they will face Union College. That game will tip at 6 PM.
