Lady Eagles Sweep CCCB
October 26, 2013
The Faith volleyball team had a familiar foe in Central Christian College of Moberly, Missouri having defeated the Saints 3-0 earlier in the year. The latest match would prove to be very similiar to the first with the Eagles getting out to a strong 8-2 lead in set one enroute to a 25-13 win. The Saints were able to begin set two with leads of 8-3 and 19-7. Faith was able to knot the score at 23-23 and found victory at 25-23. In set three the Eagles capitalized on aggresive offense and Saint miscues to capture the set 25-9 and the match.
"We played pretty well for being off all week. This was the first time in our schedule we could focus on one match. I thought we did a better job of anticipating the different attacks, especially the roll shots," noted Nihart. Faith was led by senior Julia Roacha with 11 kills and a 42.9% attack. Setter Stephanie Knupp added 26 assist and 11 digs while senior Natalie Bunjer added 19 digs which Nihart addressed. "Stephanie and Natalie will be key players for us going down the stretch with their experience and Stephanie directing our offense. Both of these ladies are beginning to play well and hopefully can continue to address their game for greater involvement".
Faith moved to 15-10 on the year. "We have several contests in the upcoming 3 weeks against ranked NCCAA opponents beginning Tuesday night against Grace University. We need to start making a statement we are here to win championships", noted Nihart.
