Lady Eagles Sweep Weekend Games
Playing before a packed house Friday night, the Lady Eagles gave senior night recipients Julia Rocha and Natalie Bunjer an exciting three set victory over visiting Emmaus Bible College. The win avenged an earlier season three set loss at Emmaus, and improved the Eagles overall record to 10-6.
Set one found an even match with Emmaus for the first half, with neither team able to take control. That changed midway through when Stephanie Knupp served several in a row to give the Eagles command of the game. Faith won set one 25-17. Set two was a similar story, with Faith and Emmaus playing even early, before Faith took control. Faith recorded 14 kills in the set for the win. During the set, Julia Rocha became the second all time kills leader for the Eagles. Faith won set two 25-16.
Between sets two and three, the teams paused to honor Eagle's seniors Julia Rocha and Natalie Bunjer. The break did now slow the momentum the Lady Eagle's had gained through the first two sets, as they recorded another 14 kills enroute to the set three win, giving them the 3-0 match sweep. Faith won the final set 25-17.
Rocha led the Eagles with 14 kills on the night. JoJo Hodak recorded 10 kills, 11 digs, and a 34.8 attack percentage. Stephanie Knupp had 32 assists.
On Saturday, Faith hosted St. Louis Christian College in an MCCC matchup. Faith made quick work of the visitors, recording 25-2, 25-5, and 25-7 set wins for the 3-0 sweep. Faith improved to 11-6 on the year and 2-1 in the conference with the victory.
The Eagles will hit the road next weekend for the Grace University Invitational. Faith faces a tough side of the bracket, with games against nationally ranked Manhattan Christian and Ozark Christian, as well as Hillsdale.
