Eagles Defeat #4 Grace Christian; Battle #1 to the Finish

WYOMING, Michigan—The Faith Eagles faced their toughest road trip of the season this past weekend, venturing off to the state of Michigan for a pair of games against ranked opponents on back-to-back days.

Friday afternoon, the Eagles squared off against Great Lakes Christian, the top-ranked team in the nation in NCCAA Division II Women's Soccer. Despite the 2-0 loss, the Eagles played neck and neck with the nation's #1 team throughout the 90 minutes of action. Faith led the game in the statistical categories of shots and shots on goal by one each. The Eagles had a pair of golden opportunities to connect on goals with one-on-one fast breaks, but couldn't get one past the goalie.

On Saturday, the Eagles bounced back nicely, traveling west to take on Grace Christian University, the nation's fourth-ranked team. Unlike Friday, the ball found the net three times for the Eagles. Demi DelPrior scored two of the three Eagles goals in a 3-0 victory to bring Faith's record to 3-6 overall. With the win, the Eagles have qualified for postseason regional play in early November.

Faith's next game is a Homecoming match this Saturday against Maranatha Baptist University. The Sabercats are just 1-8 overall, but have faced larger school competition throughout their season. The last time the Eagles and Sabercats met, Faith won 2-0 to advance to the 2021 national championships final four. Game time is 1 p.m. at Pyche Field in Ankeny.
