MANHATTAN, Kansas—An Abby Zollinger penalty kick with 27 minutes to play was all the Eagles' offense was able to muster on a cool, autumn night in Manhattan, Kansas, but it was enough to secure a 1-0 victory to bring the Eagles' record back to .500 at 3-3.
Ten days after scoring three goals against the same Thunder team in Ankeny, Faith's offense struggled to get going on the road. Manhattan's physical play led to ten fouls in the game, but was effective in keeping Faith out of rhythm on the offensive end. The Eagles managed only three shots on goal and were held scoreless the entire night, other than the Zollinger one-on-one kick which narrowly squeezed past the outstretched arms of goalkeeper Hailey Culp.
The Eagles' defense continued its rock-solid play, allowing just two shots on goal to keep the Thunder at bay. In the last four games, Faith has held opponents to a total of three goals.
Faith has two games remaining in the regular season, beginning with a road game at Waldorf University, Saturday, October 24, at 11:30 a.m.
