Lyndi Shepard Breaks School Record for Goals and Points
ANKENY, Iowa—Faith junior forward Lyndi Shepard broke the school record for career points and career goals on Tuesday, September 17, 2019, in a 5-0 win over Manhattan Christian College.
The previous marks for career points (62) and career goals (28) were held by Kara Vigneault from 2004-2006.
Lyndi leads the team in goals this season with 12 and is coming off of back-to-back games with a hat trick. She has helped the Eagles to a 7-3 record and is a vital part of a high-flying Eagles offensive attack that is averaging 4.0 goals per game this year--#1 in the nation in NCCAA Division II.
After a slow start to the year, Lyndi has come on strong, registering three hat tricks in the last six games. Through ten games, Shepard ranks #2 in the nation in goals (12), #6 in the nation in assists, and #3 in the nation in points (28).
Lyndi played midfield in high school, so she never imagined she would ever be in a position to break the school record at Faith for goals and points.
"I've been on the right team during the right years and put in the right position," said Lyndi.
Lyndi is from Lapeer, Michigan, and is majoring in Office Administration.
