JACKSONVILLE, Illinois- For the first time this season, the Eagles were simply overmatched. A busy schedule of three games, all on the road, took its toll on the Eagles in a 6-1 loss to the MacMurray Highlanders on Saturday, dropping Faith's record to 4-3.
The Highlanders struck early, scoring their first goal just under three minutes into the game. The Eagles tried to regain momentum for the next ten minutes, and nearly tied it with two shots on goal.
The Highlanders kept the pressure on Faith's defense and scored two more goals within two minutes of each other less than fifteen minutes into the game, deflating the Eagles' confidence. Lydia Trygstad scored the first goal of the game for the Eagles at 15:55, but MacMurray scored again putting the game at 4-1 with just under ten minutes to play in the first half.
In the second half, the Eagles held the Highlanders off with 37 minutes of solid defense. With seven minutes left in the game, the Highlanders scored two more goals, ending the game at 6-1.
Faith concludes a difficult stretch of four consecutive road games on Tuesday with a match at Iowa Wesleyan at 4:00 p.m.
