MINNEAPOLIS, Minnesota—The Faith Eagles women's soccer team opened its season with a win on Saturday in Minneapolis against North Central University. It was Coach Zack and Katie Barrons' first game at the helm as the new coaches of the women's soccer team.
The Eagles scored all three goals in the opening half, with two of the goals scored by freshman forward Abigail Speichinger.
"I was really happy with the entire team performance," said Zack Barron. "They were teachable and coachable and played with a heart of joy and to glorify God. You could tell they enjoyed playing together."
The Eagles managed six shots on goal, while the defense held North Central to just three shots; none on goal. Coach Barron was able to distribute minutes to 18 different players, with 13 of them seeing at least 50 minutes of playing time.
The Eagles return to action with their home-opener on Friday against the same North Central team at 4:00 p.m. at Pyche Field. The women also play on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at home against Bethany Lutheran.
