LINCOLN, Illinois--The Faith Eagles women's soccer team played a great match against the Red Lions of Lincoln Christian University (0-2) Thursday afternoon and made school history in the process of their 8-2 win.
The first half, the Red Lions fought hard and held the Eagles to just two goals, one by Deni St. Lawrence and the other by Jessica Frerichs.
The second half was all Eagles as Faith came out strong, scoring six goals: four by Lyndi Shepherd, one by Amanda Kocurek, and one by Lindsey Garske (her first career goal as a Faith Eagle).
Allison Yuan, a sophomore, had two assists during the game, setting a new school record for career assists.
The Red Lions were able to get 2 shots in the net during the second half, and the game ended in an 8-2 win for the Faith Eagles.
The win is the second in a row for Faith, who improved to 2-1 on the season. The Eagles play a Homecoming match on Saturday afternoon at Faith against Iowa Wesleyan at 1:30 p.m.
