The Faith women's soccer team played one of their last regular season home games on Friday against the Royals of Grace University (Omaha, NE). The Eagles got on the board first and withstood several offensive attacks by Grace to grab a 1-0 victory.
The Eagles had a scare less than ten minutes into the game when Allison Yuan went down for an injury that would keep her from returning. Lyndi Shepard picked up the offensive efforts in the 19th minute, dribbling past the diving keeper and putting it in the back of the net for what would be the only goal of the match.
Faith played on the defensive end of the field for the majority of the second half. Several collapses in the Eagle's defense allowed Grace to out-shoot Faith 16 to 3 in the second half, but Aubree Smith, who proved to be the difference maker in the game, stopped any ball that came her way and saved the game for the Eagles. Aubree ended the game with 16 saves off of Grace's 26 total shots.
The win improves the Eagles record to 7-2 and extends their winning streak to six games. They are on the road this Tuesday, October 17, for a re-match with Nebraska Christian College in Papillion, NE.
