The Lady Eagles soccer team returned home after two road games for their first home game of the year this past Saturday, a game with Lincoln Christian University. Lincoln was only able to field eight players due to eligibility issues, and Eagles coach Jack Arneson showed great sportsmanship by choosing to play only eight on the Eagles side as well. Faith won by a 5-0 final and is now 1-2-0 on the year.
The Lady Eagles controlled the game from the opening kick, and Kirsten Passwaters quickly gave the Eagles the lead with her second goal of the season. The Eagles then built on that lead when Missy Jones got the first goal of her collegiate career off the assist from Passwaters. Later on in the half, Rebekah Stilwell pushed the lead to 3-0 with a goal, and that was the hafltime score as well. The Lady Eagles picked up where they left off in the first half, with Passwaters scoring her second of the game off and assist from Elizabeth Hemsworth and Holly Shepard netting an unassisted goal for the final 5-0 margin. Keeper Laura Sturgis earned her first career shutout with the clean sheet.
Faith returns to action on Saturday, September 13, when they will face NCAA 3 Eureka College at 11 AM. That game will be part of the annual Homecoming festivities for the Eagles.
