Costello Commits to Eagles Women's Basketball
Katie Costello, from Cedar Falls, IA, has committed to the Eagle’s Women’s Basketball team, signing her letter of intent for the 2024-2025 season.
Katie is the daughter of Randy and Kim Costello and comes to the Eagles from coaches Brian Jo and Laura Johnson's team at Waterloo Christian School. Katie has been a key player for the Regents as a 3x 1st Team All-Conference and 3x 1st Team All-Metro player. She has earned Waterloo Christian School MVP (3x), 2024 Iowa Star North Conference Player of the Year, 2024 Iowa Girls Coaches Association All-Star, 2024 Waterloo Exchange Club Basketball Award, and 2024 Academic All-State.
Katie has set her school records for most points scored in a game (46), in a season (471), career scoring (1,355), and rebounds in a season (225). This past season Katie has averaged 20.5 points per game, 9.8 rebounds per game, 3.1 assists per game, and 3 steals per game.
Not only has Katie excelled on the court, but also on the track. Katie has been Waterloo Christian Track MVP (2x), and Cross Country MVP. She was also 2024 Rotary Club Honor Student, 2024 KWWL Best of Class, National Merit Scholar Letter of Commendation, 2024 Governor's Scholar, and Waterloo Christian Class of 2024 Valedictorian.
When asked what Katie is most looking forward to at Faith she said, "being a part of a team that glorifies Christ and encourages one another." Katie will bring a positive attitude and a love for the game to the Faith women's basketball team.
"Katie is going to be a great addition to the team," noted Lady Eagle's head coach Zak Kirkman. "She comes from a great family with a rich basketball history and brings an elite shooting ability and high basketball IQ. Katie also displays consistent leadership qualities. I'm looking forward to seeing her make an immediate impact for our program at Faith."
Katie will pursue a degree in Elementary Education.
