Eagles Pick Up First Conference Win in Split at the Christmas Classic

Ankeny, IA- The Lady Eagles competed against a tough conference opponent, Calvary University. The Warriors from Calvary kept the game close with their tight defense. Despite the tough defensive mind of the Warriors, the Eagles were able to lead three out of four of the quarters resulting in a 38-33 win.

Leading the Eagles was Mikayla Jones with 12 points and 9 rebounds, followed by Codie Wirges with 9 points, Whitney Wacker and Rachel Forgie with 6 points and 12 rebounds each.

The Lady Eagles matched up against the tough rival, Maranatha Baptist University in an electric environment on Saturday. The Eagles came out excited to play, but could not gain the traction needed and lost the first quarter 14-9 and the second 14-13. Coming into the second half, all hope was not lost as the Eagles were able to find their footing to come back winning the third quarter 12-9. The Sabercats did not sit down, but continued to fight and took the final win 49-45.

Leading the Eagles was Rachel Forgie with 9 points, 14 rebounds, and 7 assists, followed by Tina Harms with 13 points and 3 rebounds, and  Mikayla Jones with 10 points and 5 rebounds.

Eagles compete in their next game against Marshalltown Community College on Monday, December 11th at 5:00 PM.
