Fresh Year, Fresh Start for Lady Eagles

BELTON, Missouri— The lady Eagles started the new year off of on the right foot, taking their talents south to Missouri for back-to-back conference wins.

The Eagles showed no signs of rust in their return to the court, barring any chance of defeat with a constant stream of shooting and keeping their distance with marginal victories of 8+ points in both games. The weekend started with a 55-47 victory over Barclay College and finished with a 58-47 weekend sweep over Manhattan Christian College. Kayla Stephens, a rookie guard for the Eagles, had a breakout game against the Thunder, raining her own storm of buckets with 4 three-point plays in the win. 

With the weekend sweep, the Eagles now sit at a perfect record of 2-0 against conference opponents. A slate of conference rivalries is next on the agenda, with a mix of home games and return trips south. Seven matchups out of the nine remaining games in the packed January schedule are conference games. 

The ladies return home to play their next game against the Eagles of Emmaus Bible College (0-9), at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, January 10.
