Lady Eagles’ Season Comes to an End in NCCAA Regionals
DUBUQUE, Iowa—The 2018-19 basketball season came to its official end Thursday evening as the Faith Eagles women's basketball team fell to the Emmaus Bible College Eagles, 89-43, in the opening round of the NCCAA Division II North Regional Tournament.
Emmaus is ranked #6 in the nation and showed its force early and often against Faith, building a 24-6 advantage by the end of the first quarter. In the second quarter, Emmaus sank six three-pointers and scored 26 points, squashing any hopes of a Faith comeback as they built their lead to 50-22 at the half.
Faith was just 3 of 11 shooting in the third quarter and 5 of 21 in the fourth quarter as their season drew to an end. The Eagles shot just 32% for the game, while Emmaus made 14 of 25 three-pointers as part of their scoring avalanche.
Alicia Smith had one of her best games of the year for Faith, leading the team in scoring with 12 points. Michaela Crider was the only other Eagle in double figures with 11.
With the loss, the Eagles finished the season with a record of 9-13. With a lineup dominated by freshmen and sophomores, Coach Fincham's squad looks to have a solid nucleus to build on next season.
