Eagles Finish Regular Season on a High Note
ANKENY, Iowa—With a 51-37 win over Kansas Christian College on Saturday, the Faith Eagles women's basketball team ended the regular season with an even record of 9-9 as they head into postseason play this week.
The Eagles used a strong first quarter and a strong third quarter to separate themselves from the Falcons in the 14 point win. Lyndi Shepard hit a pair of three pointers in the first quarter, while the Faith defense held Kansas Christian to 2-14 shooting (14.3%). The Falcons outscored the Eagles in the second quarter, 10-9.
Shepard connected on two more three-pointers in the third quarter as Faith stretched the lead to 16 with a 37-21 score by the end of the third. The Falcons picked up the offensive pace in the fourth quarter, scoring 16 points, but it was not enough to overcome the Eagles' lead.
Four Eagles scored in double figures led by Shepard's 16. Michaela Crider had a double-double with 11 points and 14 rebounds, while Karina Fritz also scored 11 points to go along with her 6 rebounds, 6 assists, and 5 steals. Alicia Smith was the final Faith player in double figures with 10 points.
Faith heads to Belton, Missouri, on Thursday for the MCCC Tournament.
