Poor Rebounding and Turnovers Costly in Loss to Emmaus

ANKENY, Iowa—Faith faced the Emmaus Bible College Eagles on Tuesday night for the second time this season. Earlier this year, Faith fell at Emmaus 64-23.  Emmaus entered the game with a 7-12 record (3-0 in conference play), while Faith was 8-8 (3-1 in conference play).  On Tuesday night, turnovers and bad rebounding was the demise of Faith in a 66-38 loss. 

Things didn't initially look bleak for Faith. After three minutes of play, they were only down 6-4, but Emmaus went on a scoring run to give themselves a 19-8 advantage at the end of the first quarter.  Faith cut into Emmaus' lead at the beginning of the second quarter, trimming it to 19-12 with baskets from Michaela Crider and Bekah Smith.  Emmaus slowly built up their lead as the second quarter progressed, connecting on 8 of 22 shots to gain a 39-20 lead at halftime. 

Emmaus buried Faith in the third quarter, shooting 43.8% from the field while holding Faith to just 14.3% from the field.  At the beginning of the fourth quarter, Faith was down 55-27.  Faith matched Emmaus point for point in the fourth quarter with each team putting up 11 points, but it wasn't enough to overcome the deficit. 

Michaela Crider led the Eagles in scoring with 11 points and 6 rebounds.  Karina Fritz contributed 8 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists, while Bekah Smith and Lyndi Sheppard rounded out the scoring with 6 points each. 

Faith has one game left before heading to the conference tournament in Missouri next weekend.  They will host the Kansas Christian College Falcons on Saturday, February 9, starting a
