Poor Shooting Halts Winning Streak For Lady Eagles
KANSAS CITY, Missouri—The Faith Eagles women's basketball three-game winning streak came to an abrupt halt Friday night in a 70-25 loss to the Calvary Warriors. The Eagles shot just 15.8% for the game, making 9 of 57 shots, including a miserable 1-28 from three-point distance. They made only three baskets the entire second half.
The Eagles made four of their game total nine baskets in the first quarter, actually jumping to a 4-1 lead before Calvary's 15-4 run to end the quarter with a 16-8 lead.
The second quarter was when things really started to fall apart for the Eagles, offensively and defensively. Faith was outscored 24-7 in the quarter, taking a 40-15 deficit into halftime. The Eagles managed just two baskets in the frame on 2 of 14 shooting.
The Eagles' ice-cold shooting stretched into the third quarter, resulting in a nightmarish 0-16 from the field. Faith's only points in the quarter came from the free throw line.
Michaela Crider gave Faith its first made basket of the second half with 6:43 remaining in the fourth quarter. The only other two baskets in the second half came with less than 30 seconds to play on another bucket by Crider and one at the buzzer by Loretta Gamboe.
With the loss, Faith fell to 4-7 on the season. The ladies resume action on the road with a Saturday matchup against Ozark Christian at 1:00 p.m.
