DUBUQUE, Iowa—The women's basketball team struggled to maintain possession of the ball as Emmaus forced 42 turnovers Tuesday night. The turnovers, along with cold shooting, resulted in a 64-23 loss for the Eagles.
Faith has struggled on offense most of the season, and Tuesday night was no different. The Eagles shot just 20.4% from the field and had twice as many turnovers as Emmaus.
Tuesday night's matchup started rough, as Faith did not score until halfway through the first quarter when a bucket from Mackenzie Hanson brought the score to 2-11. By the end of the first quarter, Faith trailed 16-6 and Emmaus extended that lead to 37-10 at halftime.
In the first two minutes of the third quarter, a series of fouls and turnovers by Faith enabled Emmaus to increase their lead to 46-10. Faith scored their first bucket of the half with just under three minutes left in the third quarter with a lay-up from Michaela Crider, but the Eagles were never in this one as Emmaus cruised to the 39-point win.
Michaela Crider led Faith in scoring for the third game in a row with 10 points and 5 rebounds. Mackenzie Hanson had 6 rebounds and 4 points, while Karina Fritz had 8 rebounds.
Up next, Faith will travel to Moberly, Missouri, for their last game of the semester against Central Christian College of the Bible. The matchup is scheduled for Monday, December 10, starting at 4:00 p.m.
