Bad First Quarter Dooms Eagles

MINNEAPOLIS, Minnesota--The women's basketball team got into trouble early in Saturday's matchup and couldn't dig their way out of it.
After a tough game Friday night, the Eagles played their second game in a row against an NCAA DIII opponent (in less than twenty-four hours) against the North Central Rams. The Rams held the Eagles to just one point in the first quarter, outscoring them 17-1. In the second quarter, the Eagles' offense came to life, but the Rams continued to increase their lead as the quarter progressed. By halftime, the Eagles were down 37-9.
The Eagles continued to struggle shooting the ball in the third quarter as the Rams steadily increased their lead. By the end of the third quarter, the Eagles trailed 52-17. The same pattern continued in the fourth quarter as the Rams outscored the Eagles 18-12, handing the Eagles a 70-29 loss. It was the fifth loss in a row for Faith, who fell to 1-5 on the season.
The Eagles shot 24.4% from the field (11 of 45), while the Rams shot 38.7% from the field (24 of 62). The Eagles outrebounded the Rams 37-31.
Michaela Crider led the Eagles in scoring for the second game in a row with 10 points, followed by Bekah Smith with 12 rebounds and 4 points.
Up next, the Eagles will travel to Dubuque, Iowa, to play Emmaus Bible College (1-8). The game is scheduled for December 4 at 4:00 p.m.
