Hanson's 14 Rebounds and Smith's 20 Points Not Enough For Eagles
ANKENY, Iowa—The Lady Eagles wrapped up a busy first week of basketball action with a 56-47 loss to Randall University Saturday evening at the Nettleton Center. The loss was the third straight for Faith and dropped the Eagles to 1-3 on the season.
Faith played neck and neck with the Saints for the first quarter, trailing just 14-8 after the first ten minutes. Randall stretched its lead to 34-16 at halftime after a twenty-point outburst in the second quarter. Bekah Smith led all Eagles in scoring in the first half with 10 points.
The Eagles rallied in the second half, trimming the lead to eight, but they couldn't find a hot stretch to put them over the top and make the comeback. Faith shot just 25% for the game (16-64; 2-23 from three). Randall's bench blitzed the Eagles for 36 points.
Bekah Smith led all scorers with 20 points. She also added 8 rebounds and 2 blocked shots. Mackenzie Hanson led all rebounders with 14. She is now averaging double digits in rebounds for the season at 10.5 per game.
After playing four games in five days, the team gets a much-needed rest over Thanksgiving break. The Eagles return to action on Friday, November 30, against Crown College (0-2) in Minnesota.
