Lady Eagles Drop Disappointing Conference Game
The Lady Eagles hosted Central Christian College of the Bible (Moberly, MO) Friday night in another MCCC conference-play matchup. After getting behind early, the Eagles fought their way back in front, only to surrender the lead in the fourth quarter and suffer the 69-60 defeat.
The Saints jumped out to a 19-12 lead after the first ten minutes, but the Eagles outscored CCCB in the second quarter to find themselves only down five at the half, 33-28. The Eagles, yet again, outscored the Saints in the third quarter, this time pulling closer, 49-47. In the fourth, Faith took control of the lead, 54-53, but foul trouble then became a factor for the Eagles. Both Aubree Smith and Shannon Steffen fouled out in the middle of the quarter, to cut the Eagles down to just six players. CCCB took advantage of Faith's missing bodies and closed out the game on a 13-4 run to grab the 69-60 victory.
Lyndi Shepard boosted the Eagles' offense with her 29 points, coming in large part from Shannon Steffen's 8 assists. Shannon also added 10 rebounds, as did Bekah Smith. Mackenzie Hanson came in off the bench and earned a double-double with 19 points and 15 rebounds.
The Eagles have a week break until their next game. They will travel to Barclay College (Haviland, KS) then to Manhattan Christian College (Manhattan, KS) in a weekend MCCC conference road trip.
