Eagles Battle Through Injuries, Obstacles
Coming out of Thanksgiving break with defending conference champion Emmaus Bible College on the schedule, the Eagle women knew they were in for a strong test to start the final three weeks of their first semester schedule. Unfortunatley, illness, injury, and other obstacles made that test even more difficult. The Eagles showed heart and continued improvement over last year, but ultimately still fell by a 52-87 final score. Faith is now 3-2 on the year.
Faith played with Emmaus for the first few minutes of the first quarter, but Emmaus began to show why they are the early favorite to repeat as conference champs and challenge for the region title as they put together a 15-2 run in the span of four minutes to jump up by 15 on the Eagles. Faith continued to battle but never really threatened as Emmaus' strong outside shooting blistered the nets for 57 first half points. Emmaus would end the game shooting 57% from behind the arc. Lyndi Shepard and Shannon Steffen each finished in double figures with 20 and 13 respectively. Steffen handed out five assists as well, while Bekah Smith grabbed 11 rebounds and two steals along with three blocks.
Next up for the Eagles is defending region champion Maranatha Baptist University at home on Saturday at 3:00 PM.
