Track & Field Season Wrap Up
The Faith Track & Field team concluded its season this past weekend with the NCCAA National Championships at Oklahoma Baptist University. The Eagle men finished 15th overall, led by sophomore thrower Jacob Kirkwood's third place finish in the shot put and fifth place finish in the discus. Willie Felderman capped off his season with a personal best time in the 400m of 52.48 and took 15th. Tanner Van Beek competed in just his second meet throwing javelin and threw a personal best throw of 40.54m earning him 17th. On the women's side, freshman Cara Hodak finished the season out with her best times in the 100m and 200m, 13.33 and 27.88 respectively. Junior Rebecca Reinertson competed in both hurdle events with a personal best in the 100m hurdles at 17.71 finishing 10th and an 11th place finish in the 400m hurdles.
With no graduating seniors, Faith looks to build on this year's track success in the years to come. With 14 athletes competing this year, the team set 6 new school records and added another NCCAA All-American to the growing list.
Coach Sauser reflecting on the year said, "It was a great year for the track team! Lots of hard work led to lots of great performances. One strength of the team this year was certainly the atmosphere and culture of caring and supporting one another, and that's definitely something I look for and seek to build on. I'm very proud of the way the team performed this year and especially the way they carried themselves."
