Kirkwood Takes 3rd at Nationals, Named All American
Five members of the Faith Track & Field Team were at Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee, Oklahoma for the NCCAA National Championships this past weekend. On Friday, the three individuals participating in running events, Cara Hodak, Willie Felderman, and Rebecca Reinertson, each set new personal records in their different events.
Jacob Kirkwood started off Saturday's action in his first of two field events, the shot put. Kirkwood came into the competition ranked third in the NCCAA in men's shot put and ended the season with that ranking. He finished third overall in the event, with his throw of 14.63m., and was named an NCCAA All-American in men's shot put.
Jacob's second event, the discus, kicked off later in the afternoon. Although he was ranked tenth in the nation going into the event, Kirkwood performed above and beyond that, throwing a new personal best and school record 44.38m., and placing fifth in the discus.
Kirkwood's performance led Faith's Men's Track & Field team to an overall 15th place finish in the meet.
