Kirkwood, Reinertson Compete at Drake
Two athletes from Faith's track team qualified to compete at the Jim Duncan Invitational, hosted at Drake Stadium in Des Moines, IA, April 14-15. Jacob Kirkwood kicked things off in the shot put on Friday night with an outstanding performance. A rain delay pushed the event back about an hour and also caused the throwing ring to be flooded with about 4 inches of standing water, but those elements didn't hold Kirkwood back from a career best performance! On his second attempt, he set a new personal best of 14.14m and then improved even more on his third throw with a 14.21m heave. Kirkwood finished 4th overall in the shot put against some very good competition. Kirkwood was back in action Saturday morning competing in the discus. Jacob made the finals and finished 7th overall with a throw of 40.62m, capping off a great weekend for the sophomore thrower. He currently ranks 9th in the NCCAA in shot put and 12th in the discus.
Rebecca Reinertson competed in the 400m hurdles on Saturday, running it for the first time in her collegiate career. She ran a great race finishing in a time of 1:10.78 and qualifying for Nationals! That time currently ranks her 20th in the NCCAA.
The Eagles will travel this Saturday, April 22, to Grinnell, IA to compete in the Dick Young Invitational.
