Eagles Finish Season at Kip Janvrin
April 27, 2015
The Faith Track team competed in their final meet of the season on Friday at the Kip Janvrin Open hosted by Simpson College. A half hour delay stopped the meet temporarily after a downpour that included thunder and lightning. Once the meet got underway again it was cold but dry with only a slight breeze.
Following the rain delay, Emily Wolfe competed in the 100m hurdles with a time of 18.81 seconds. After that, Rebecca Reinertson and Emily ran the 100m dash in a close race with times of 14.26 and 14.53 seconds respectively. Cody Chaffin ran the 100m race twice in a row due to a timing system malfunction that required his heat to run the race a second time. Even being tired, Cody ran his race in a time of 12.81 seconds.
Chris Brace was very close to qualifying for the National Track Meet in the 800m run, running a time of 2:02.36. The other runners in his race boxed Chris in at the start, causing him to get out slower than planned, but he still ran an excellent race with a very fast time!
The last races for the Eagles were Rebecca and Cody in the 200m dash. Rebecca ran it in 29.62, and Cody's time was 26.55.
All of the team members ran very well, honoring the Lord with their talents and abilities from Him.
The team is very thankful for the many friends and family who came and encouraged all of us, despite the difficult weather conditions! It has been a fun season, and the team is already looking forward to next year!
