Track Team Continues Improvement at Sioux City
April 20, 2015
The Faith Track team traveled back to Northwest Iowa again this weekend to compete in the Sioux City Relays on the campus of Morningside College. The weather was nearly perfect on Friday afternoon with temperatures in the low 70's and no wind.
Emily Wolfe led the way for the Eagles Friday afternoon, competing in the 100m hurdles with a time of 18.53 seconds. A few minutes later, Rebecca Reinertson and Wolfe ran the 100m dash in 14.43 and 14.53 seconds, despite foot injuries that both of them are working through. Cody Chaffin completed his 100m race in a time of 12.65 seconds.
Next up in competition was Chris Brace with the 800m run. He placed 3rd in his heat ahead of 21 other runners, ending with a personal best time of 2:02.5...just 3.5 seconds shy of the national qualifying mark. The final races on Friday were Reinertson and Chaffin in the 200m dash. Rebecca ran it in 29.34, and Cody's time was 25.39.
The track meet continued on Saturday, but the wind and rain had picked up by then causing an hour rain delay from noon to 1:00 pm. By the time Chris got to run his 1500m race, the rain had mostly stopped, but the wind was still gusting strong. He finished with a personal best time of 4:25.07.
The team is looking forward to competing in our closest meet this coming Friday in nearby Indianola at Simpson College for the Kip Janvrin Invitational...we hope to see several family members and friends there cheering us on! We are praying for the Lord's continued blessing as the meet at Simpson this weekend will be our final regular season meet.
