Track Team Opens Season
The Faith Track team enjoyed the unusual blessing of warm weather for their season opener on Thursday at Central College in Pella. Freshman Emily Wolfe led off the day's events with the 100 meter hurdles, finishing in a time of 18.61. Next up was the 100 meter dash, which Freshman Rebecca Reinertson competed in with a time of 14.05, and Emily Wolfe finished in 14.24 seconds. Freshman Chris Brace bravely took on the challenge of the 3000 meter Steeplechase event, which he ran in a time of 10:57. The water pit barrier took it's toll after a few laps, and Chris finished the race well despite the soaking wet socks and shoes. Rebecca ran the 400 meter in a solid time of 68.37 seconds, and Chris recovered from the Steeplechase to run a very respectable 800 meter race in 2:08. Rebecca finished out the meet by competing in her third event of the day, the 200 meter dash, finishing with a time of 30.08 seconds.
The Eagles will travel to Platteville, WI for their second track meet at the University of Wisconsin – Platteville Invitational on Saturday, April 11th.
