Track Team Competes at Sioux City Relays
The Faith Eagles track team traveled to Sioux City, IA for the Sioux City Relays Friday, 4/11/14. Elizabeth Hemsworth was able to compete in the 100m and 400m dashes against very good competition. She finished 30th in the 100m dash with a time of 13.90 into a slight headwind, and she finished 26th in the 400m with a season best 1:02.82. Elizabeth only needs to improve by less than 1 second over the next two meets to qualify for the NCCAA National Track Meet in Rome, GA.
The Eagle's men competed in their first ever distance medley relay (DMR) Friday night, The DMR consists of four runners who each run a different distance; the Eagles ran Kyle England in the 1,200m lead off leg who handed off to Nathan Patefield who ran a season best 400m split. The third leg of the race was Christopher Damsgaard who ran 800m and then handed off to Kevin England who anchored with a 4:44 1,600m split.
The next meet for the Eagles will be the Good Friday Meet in Dubuque, IA on 4/18/14 hosted by the University of Dubuque. They will conclude the regular season the following Friday in Indianola, IA at the Kip Janvrin Invitational hosted by Simpson College.
