MANHATTAN, Kansas--The Faith Eagles men's soccer team played the first of a four-game road trip to end their regular season on Friday night with a game under the lights at Manhattan Christian College. Faith's offensive woes continued, however, as they were unable to get on the scoreboard for the second time in three games in a 3-0 loss to the Thunder.
Faith has faced stiff competition this season, and offense has been difficult to come by all year. The Eagles have been held to one goal or less in six of their seven matches and have been shut out four times.
Manhattan Christian (7-3) is one of the top teams in all of NCCAA Division II men's soccer, coming off a national tournament appearance last season in Kissimmee, Florida. Faith's defense kept the game within reach, surrendering just one goal late in the first half. The Eagles were still very much alive for the majority of the second half, trailing just 1-0 until Manhattan gave itself some breathing room with goals at the 73-minute and 83-minute marks.
With the loss, the Eagles fell to 1-6 on the year. They finish the regular season this week with three road games, beginning with a Tuesday match at Maranatha Baptist University at 3 p.m.
