Men's Soccer Season Review
The Faith men's soccer season finished the 2019 season with a record of 10-12-0. The men faced one of their toughest schedules in years this season with 13 of their 22 games coming against opponents ranked in the NCCAA or from a higher division (NCCAA Div. I, NAIA, or NCAA Div. III). Like last year the team is still pretty young as 19 of the 23 men on the roster this season were playing in their first or second year with the team. Despite the young team and difficult schedule the Eagles showed great toughness and made solid progress throughout the season.
The 2019 season was one of the best in recent memory in terms of conference and regional placement. The Eagles finished as runner up in the MCC Conference regular season and tournament, which was their best finish in the MCCC tournament in over 5 years. The 2019 season was capped with the Eagles best performance of the season as they took Providence, the #1 seed in the region and the eventual NCCAA National Runner-up to double overtime before surrendering the lone goal of the game. With such a young team and one that gained good experience this season, great things could still be ahead for this group of underclassmen.
The men were led in points (2 points for a goal, 1 point for an assist) this year by Chase Clark with 21, Nathan Stupka with 18, Josiah Zollinger with 15 and Jacob Stilwell with 11. Jason Conable, Andrew Young, and Noah Zollinger all earned 1st team all conference honors, while Jacob Stilwell and Nate Stupka were named as 2nd team all conference selections. Andrew Young was the lone eagle to be named to the NCCAA North All Region team.
This was a team that got the most out of each other. They were a great group to coach and made incredible progress as the year went on. In my last season I couldn't have asked for anything more, extremely proud of the way they battled and improved. You want every year to be playing your best soccer at the end of the season in the tournaments and this team did that.
