LINCOLN, Nebraska—The Eagles were outshot, but they weren't outscored.
Faith survived a 24-12 deficit in shots (a 12-6 deficit in shots on goal), thanks in part to another outstanding performance by goalie Jason Conable, who helped shut out the Union College Warriors. Meanwhile, the Eagles' offense was able to put the ball in the net three times as the Eagles posted a 3-0 win Thursday afternoon in Lincoln, Nebraska, the first of the year for Faith.
The Eagles struck early with a goal at the 10:24 mark from freshman Josiah Zollinger, the first of his collegiate career, assisted by Nathan Stupka.
Two minutes later, Stupka connected on a goal of his own (his second in as many games), assisted by Josiah Zollinger.
Midway through the first half, the Eagles expanded their lead to 3-0, thanks to a goal by Jacob Stillwell, assisted again by Zollinger.
The barrage of shots on goal by Union College became more frequent in the second half, but the Eagles' defense was able to preserve the shutout.
Faith (1-2) returns home to action on Saturday for Homecoming against Eureka College (2-1) at 2:00 p.m. Both of Eureka's victories have come in close contests against Emmaus.
