OSKALOOSA, Iowa—It was a record-breaking night in Oskaloosa as the Faith Eagles men's soccer team took on NAIA opponent William Penn (12-3). The only problem was, William Penn was the team that broke all the records in a 9-0 rout, giving the Statesmen a new school record for wins and the second-most goals in school history for a single game.
Earlier in the day, the Statesmen received votes for the NAIA top 25 poll for the first time in program history, and they rode that adrenaline to roll up nine goals off of 42 shots. The Eagles were unable to get a single shot on goal in the onslaught.
With the loss, the Eagles fell to 6-6-1. They've got one more regular season game remaining, which will determine whether or not they finish the regular season with a winning record or a losing record. Faith travels to Union College on Thursday for a rescheduled game from September 4. Union College (5-3) had their last two games canceled due to rain and snow. The Eagles defeated Union, 5-2, earlier in the season in Ankeny. Game time is 3:30 p.m.
