ALTOONA, Iowa—The Faith Eagles men's soccer team (1-1) overcame the cold and rain, and games on back-to-back days, to record its first win of the season on Friday. Faith defeated Barclay College (0-4), 6-0.
Sophomore forward Jordan Schmidt led the Eagles offense with his second career hat trick. Two of Schmidt's goals came in the opening half, helping Faith to a 3-0 lead after senior forward Cole Glanzer got the Eagles on the board first with his goal at the 19:40 mark. Schmidt's third goal came in the second half, capping Faith's 6-0 victory. Chase Clark and Joel Graham II recorded the other two goals.
The Eagles dominated on both ends of the field, allowing just three shots on goal for the Bears, while Faith had 28 shots on goal. Coach Jordan Sauser was able to get his bench some valuable playing minutes in the blowout win, with 18 players seeing at least 10 minutes of action.
Faith plays three games next week, bookended by home games on Tuesday (Nebraska Christian, 1-3) and Saturday (Homecoming, versus Calvary University). They travel to Eureka College (2-0) in Eureka, Illinois, on Thursday.
