Faith Suffers First Road Loss
Emmaus struck first in this one just 4 minutes into the game. The goal came off a cross by Anthony Flores and finish by Mason McCarl right in front of the net. Moments later Faith responded when Joseph Frerichs answered with a goal off a free kick. He caught the keeper off his line a little and buried it through from nearly midfield. That score would hold for the remainder of the half with the teams knotted at 1-1.
Both teams came out with energy in the second half looking to take the lead. With 28 minutes left in the game, Emmaus broke the tie and got the go-ahead goal from a scramble in front of the net that was eventually put through by Nick Fairley. With Faith nearing desperation time in the final ten minutes, they pushed their attack forward, and Emmaus got out in transition and got an insurance goal off a cross and header to secure their 3-1 victory.
"I thought our guys competed and fought hard today," said Coach Jordan Sauser. "Credit Emmaus for playing well and capitalizing on their opportunities. We've tried some different things with our formation and lineup the past couple games that didn't seem to work the best today, and we'll look to make some adjustments and bounce back this weekend!"
