The Faith Eagles grabbed their second win of the season yesterday after beating in-state rival Emmaus Bible College (Dubuque, IA) by a final score of 5-0. Faith's overall record moves to 2-1.
Oleg Orlov got the scoring started for Faith, with a goal less than a minute into the contest. The Eagles played well together the rest of the half and created several good looks but were unable to convert on most of the shots and extend their lead. However, that would change in the 37th minute when Oleg Orlov scored his second goal off a ball from Joseph Frerichs. The Eagles entered halftime leading 2-0.
The offense continued through Oleg Orlov, as he completed the hat trick 5 minutes into the second half, giving Faith a 3-0 lead. Less than a minute after, Oleg got involved in yet another scoring play, this time assisting, while Jordan Schmidt pushed the Eagles lead to 4-0. Ryan Hughes subbed off the bench for Faith and earned his first goal of the year, making it what would be the ending score of 5-0.
The Eagles' next matchup is at home Saturday, September 16 at 5 PM against Lincoln Christian University (Lincoln, IL). Admission for the event will be free in honor of homecoming week.
