Faith was right back on the pitch for an early 10 a.m. contest against Calvary University following their double overtime draw with Ozark the day before. It appeared to have an impact as Faith came out a little sluggish through the first half.
Faith did open the scoring in the first half when Caleb Sturgis fed a ball into the middle that Joseph Frerichs fired into the net for the 1-0 lead. Calvary took advantage of a fast counterattack when they got behind the defense for a breakaway goal and the 1-1 tie. The tie would hold until the 37th minute when Josh Bray would get free for a goal and the 2-1 lead.
Faith would regroup to come out much sharper to start the second half, scoring three goals within the first 15 minutes. The lead increased to 3-1 when Cole Glanzer competed in the air for a cross and drew a foul that resulted in a penalty kick which he drilled with precision into the net. Minutes later Oleg Orlov carried the ball through the midfield and fed Josh Bray a great ball that he capitalized on for the 4-1 lead. Bray would follow that up with a third goal to complete the hat trick when he launched the ball at the net on a throw in and the Calvary keeper deflected it into the net. Orlov would complete Faith's scoring in the 87th minute when Joey Young played a through ball ahead to him as he broke away from the defense and placed it into the net for the goal. Faith won the second half 4-0 to take the game 6-1.
Faith will look to get healthy after another grueling weekend as they travel to Maranatha next Saturday for a regional contest.
