Faith travelled across the state for a game against the Eagles from Emmaus on Tuesday. Faith dropped a home game to Emmaus 2-1 the week prior and was looking to bounce back with a win on the road. However, Faith came out a little flat and Emmaus took advantage when Brandon Young volleyed a ball into the back of the net for the early lead. Faith was not without their chances but came up empty trailing at the half 1-0.
Faith looked to make a push to start the second half but was undone by a defensive breakdown that Emmaus' Joe Olson took advantage of with a pass from Carson McBain that gave Emmaus the 2-0 lead. This time Faith would respond, as a couple minutes later Andrew Young connected on Josh Bray's long throw in for the goal. Despite Faith outshooting Emmaus 22-12, the Emmaus defense played a strong game and would only concede the one goal to Faith. Emmaus added to their lead late when Anthony Flores crossed a ball in to Nick Fairley who headed the ball in for the 3-1 lead in the 80th minute. The score would hold as Emmaus gave Faith it's first loss of the season that was by more than a one goal margin with the 3-1 victory.
"Our team learned another tough lesson, we have to come ready to play. It takes hard work, discipline and mental focus for 90 minutes to win in our conference and we have struggled with that at times this season. Emmaus has demonstrated that twice for us, with great team play and sound defense."
Faith will take the road again this weekend with a Friday game against #10 Ozark followed by a Saturday contest with Calvary.
