In a rematch game from a couple weeks ago the Eagle men put together their most complete effort of the season in a 5-0 victory over Lincoln Christian University in Lincoln, IL this past Saturday. Faith is now 3-1-1 on the year.
Faith took advantage of their corner kick sets to find the net twice in the first half. First on a ball from Joseph Frerichs to Jackson Clark's head and again for their third goal of the half when Chase Clark headed through another corner kick from Frerichs. In between those goals, Andrew Young played a dangerous ball into the box that the Lincoln keeper deflected but Josh Bray blasted the deflection through for the Eagle's second goal.
With a 3-0 halftime lead the Eagles would play the second half against a fairly strong wind. They remained focus and preserved the shutout, frustrating several Lincoln attacks. The Eagles increased their lead in the 77th minute when Frerichs fed Oleg Orlov a ball that left him one on one with the keeper and Oleg side stepped him for the fourth goal. Quickly after that score it was followed by another when Bray carried a ball from the outside wing to goal for the unassisted score. Coach Sauser said, "I am really proud of the way the guys executed and stayed focus for 90 minutes. It can be tough to play a team twice and I thought the guys showed great improvement from our previous meeting with Lincoln."
Faith next plays host to Barclay College for their September 17th homecoming game. That game will kick off at 2:00 PM.
