Eagles Topped by North Central
The Faith men dropped a highly contested game on the road to regional opponent North Central University (Mpls., MN) on Tuesday. The loss puts Faith at 2-1-0 on the year.
The lone difference maker came right away in the second minute of the game when North Central played a dangerous ball into the box and as the Faith defenders attempted to clear the ball away it was inadvertently headed into the goal. North Central would have additional opportunities but were unable to capitalize. After an intially rough start, the Eagles seemed to settle in and finished the first half strong.
Faith did have their chances but were unable to provide the equalizer. The Eagle's best opportunity at a goal came in the second half on a break away through ball from Joseph Frerichs to Oleg Orlov but the North Central keeper was able to turn away the opportunity.
Coach Sauser said, "I'm proud of the way our guys fought today. In the face of adversity our team showed toughness and heart. I thought the guys got better as the game wore on and battled all the way to the end."
The Eagles were outshot 23-6, but Faith made the most of their attempts, recording five of those shots on goal to NCU's eight. David Levy recorded seven saves in the net for the Eagles.
Faith resumes play on the road this weekend with games against Eureka College on Friday at 4pm and Lincoln Christian on Saturday at noon.
