The Faith men's soccer team traveled to Emmaus Bible College in Dubuque, IA Tuesday, 10/6/15. The Eagles scored an early goal when freshman Nick Paine stole a ball near the edge of the 18 yard box and put it in the net on the unassisted goal in the 4th minute. After that Emmaus played very well for the rest of the half and had a few chances to tie the game but couldn't find the back of the net. The game went into the break with the Eagles up 1-0.
Faith played the second half with much more energy and created far more scoring chances as they outshot Emmaus 18-5 in the half and 23-12 on the day. Emmaus had a couple dangerous counter attacks but Faith was able to put the game out of reach late in the half. After several great saves by Emmaus' goalkeeper and just as many near misses late in the game, the Eagles were able to score in the 87th and 90th minutes to put the game out of reach. Chase Clark was able to put the ball across face of goal for Marcus Wilkes to smash into the back of the net, and shortly after that came Joseph Frerichs played a perfect corner kick that Andrew Young put away with a diving header.
The Eagles moved to 9-1-0 on the year and 3-1-0 in the conference leading up to a very important conference road trip to face defending conference champions Barclay College Friday, 10/9/15 and #10 Manhattan Christian College Saturday 10/10/15. Friday's game will be played under the lights in Haviland, with kick off at 6:00 PM. Saturday's game in Manhattan will be at 3:00 PM.
