The Eagle men quickly got back to their winning ways as they defeated visiting conference opponent Emmaus Bible College 6-1 Tuesday night. The Eagles are now 8-1-0 on the year and move to 3-1-0 in the conference.
Faith wasted little time taking control of the game, as Andrew Young scored in the third minute off an assist from Marcos Loveall. Ten minutes later, Young found Chase Clark for the Eagles second goal, and the duo did the same again 12 minutes later as the Eagles led 3-0 in the first 25 minutes of the game. Faith then worked in some substitutes for the rest of the half. Late in the half, a miscommunicaton on defense left the net wide open for Emmaus who put the ball in to earn their lone goal of the game.
The second half began with a bang for Faith, as Joseph Frerichs scored off the opening kick off in 39 seconds. Twelve minutes later Nick Paine, in his first game back from illness, added the fifth goal for Faith off an assist from Clark. Twenty seconds after that goal, Young got his second of the game off a beautiful header on the assist from Frerichs. The Eagles reserves saw extended minutes for the rest of the match while holding Emmaus scoreless in the half to win by the 6-1 final score.
Faith outshot Emmaus 25-17 and possessed the ball for much of the game. David Levy recorded eight saves while backup keeper Jared DeNuei nabbed a save of his own. Faith has the weekend off before returning to action. The Eagles will travel to Dubuque, IA where they will face Emmaus again on Tuesday, October 6th.
