Men Notch Region Win
The Eagle men grabbed their second win of the young season Saturday afternoon with a 3-1 win over defending regional champion Providence University College. Faith moves to 2-0-0 overall and 1-0-0 in the region with the win.
The game was even for the first part of the opening half, with most of the action taking place at midfield. Providence found fortune first at the 25' mark, when a high lofted ball was misplayed by the Eagle defense and ended up in their own goal. Faith did not trail for long, though, as 17 seconds later Nick Paine broke through for a goal off an assist from Joseph Frerichs. Faith then quickly took the lead just 20 seconds later as a beautiful ball was played through, then tapped forward by Cole Glanzer for Chase Clark to put into the back of the net for the 2-1 Faith lead.
The game then again began to go back and forth, with neither team able to score and it looking like a 2-1 score would be the hafltime mark. However, with just seconds left in the half, Clark again found the back of the net, this time off of an assist by Marcus Wilkes to give the Eagles the two goal margin.
The entire second half played out much like the first 20 minutes of the game, with action centered mostly around the midfield, with the occasional attacking chance. Neither team was able to convert, though both had opportunities throughout the half, and the game ended with a 3-1 Faith victory.
Faith is back in action at home on Tuesday, September 8, at home versus region opponent North Central University. The game is set to kick off at 4:15pm.
