Eagles Start Fast, Score Often in Win Over St. Louis

The Faith men's soccer team was able to score two goals in the first minute on their way to a 12-0 win in MCCC conference play over St. Louis Christian College. Freshman Tui Hunkin was able to score an unassisted goal just 13 seconds into the match. The Eagles then won the ball quickly after the ensuing kickoff and Seth Thompson crossed a ball in for Aaron Jones to put in the net. In the fifth minute Jones was able to connect with Marcus Wilkes for his first goal of the year. Two minutes later Hunkin served in a great cross that JJ Parkhurst was able to head in for his seventh of the year. In the 16th minute Jones got his second goal off an assist from Chris Brace. Jones returned the favor nine minutes later as he assisted Brace on his first goal of the year. Jones finished the half with an unassisted goal to get hat trick in the 38th minute to put the Eagles up seven at the break.
The second half started much like the first as Brace got his second goal just two minutes into the half off a cross from Thompson. Hunkin scored his second of the game off assist from Jones five minutes later. Andrew Young was able to get his first goal of the year off another assist from Brace. Corbin Bauman and Marcos Loveall were both able to get career first goals off a pair of assists from Caleb Acree late in the match. The final tally was 12-0 as the Eagles dominated every facet of the game. Everyone who traveled for the Eagles was able to get plenty of playing time and many of the starters were able to rest and stay injury free for next weeks games.
Aaron Jones led the way with three goals and three assists, Brace recorded two goals and two assists in his first career start. Hunkin had two goals and an assist while Thompson and Acree each had a pair of assists. Wilkes, Parkhurst, Loveall, and Young each got a goal. The Eagles next match is Tuesday, September 23, against up and coming NCAA DIII school Buena Vista University (3-1-1) in Storm Lake, IA. The win improves the Eagles record to 5-1-1 and 2-1-1 in MCCC conference play.
