Eagles Win Rain Soaked Contest Over Calvary
Between two thunderstorms, the Eagle men were able to extend their winning streak to three as they defeated visiting Calvary Bible College 5-0 on Tuesday night. The Eagles are now 3-0-0 on the year.
Faith got on the board eight minutes into the contest with goal by Forward JJ Parkhurst off an assist by Josh Bray. It took 21 more minutes before the Eagles could find the back of the net again, although they had numerous chances. It was Josh Bray who tucked the ball just inside the right goal post to give the Eagles a 2-0 lead. That goal opened the floodgates for the Eagles, as they scored two more goals in the span of three minutes for the 4-0 halftime lead. Joseph Frerichs scored the third goal of the game for the Eagles from 35 yards out, and Tui Hunkin followed that goal up with the Eagles fourth goal of the half. Frerichs was assisted by Seth Thompson, and Hunkin was assisted by Frerichs.
In the second half, the Eagles found significant time for their reserves as the Eagles went on to win 5-0. Seth Thompson scored the Eagles fifth goal of the match in the 52nd minute of the game. Faith held Calvary to just one shot on goal the entire game, while the Eagles recorded 29 shots of their own.
Faith returns to action on Friday with an important conference game against defending conference champion Manhattan Christian College. That game will be Local Church Day at the field, with admission just $1 per person ($3 per family) for anyone who brings a church bulletin or mentions the promotion at the gate. On Saturday the Eagles will battle Barclay College, who is currently #1 in the Conference. Friday's game will kick off at 4 PM, with Saturdays beginning at 1 PM.
