The Eagle men's soccer season came to an end this past Friday with a heart breaking loss to North Central University. Both teams played their hearts out for 110 minutes, but neither could score, sending the game to penalty kicks. Faith lost 2-0 in the shootout, ending their season at 9-10-1.
Both teams had opportunities throughout the game, but great defending and goalkeeping on both sides of the field kept the game scoreless through regulation and two golden goal overtimes. By the time the second overtime was completed, darkness had fallen, but the two teams decided to finish the game that night rather than the next morning. Both teams struggled, with the first few shots for both going over the crossbars or being saved by the keeper. North Central was finally able to get one past the Eagle's keeper, taking a 1-0 lead wth two shots remaining for Faith, one for North Central. The Eagles pulled their ensuing shot wide, and North Central finished the game off by putting their last shot into the back of the net to seal the victory. North Central outshot the Eagles 23-16 in the game.
Friday evening four Eagle men were recognized with All Region awards. Jason Scheps, Zach Peterson, Ryan Koch, and JJ Parkhurst received their All Region certificates and plaques at the Regional Awards Fellowship.
